Post-disaster, melted cheeseburger in hand, @bloomgirl, a disillusioned writer with a niche blog, is waiting to be seen in a hospital emergency room.
Tied up in knots of likes and filters, @bloomgirl’s carefully curated online persona is about to spectacularly collide with the real world, culminating in a digital melt-down that breaks her tiny pocket of the internet permanently, but may just be real enough to matter to the right people.
Alice in a dark digital wonderland, @bloomgirl tells a riotous and sacrilegious tale about love and acceptance in a world of influencers who care more about your follower count than what you have to say.
Written and performed by Charli Burrowes and directed by Pacharo Mzembe, Bloom Girl is a unique stage-show about art, love and what it really means to be seen.

CHARLI BURROWES
WRITER, PERFORMER, PRODUCER
Charli Burrowes is an international artist, film director and producer based in Brisbane, Australia.
With ten years experience in the industry, including time spent art directing shoots for HBO, Disney + Warner Bros, Charli is a whip-crack of smart, svelte + incredibly cinematic femininity, with a tongue in cheek attitude that stands out in a sea of the same.
MeOhMy is her brand. It’s sparkling with her signature slick tongue-in-cheek wit. Her shorts have clocked 100,000+ views and her writing has rattled the outer corners of the internet with over two million impressions and hundreds of thousands of re-shares.
A visual artist for the digital age, she works across multiple disciplines to create work that makes people stop, think + connect.
Bloom Girl is her first stage show.
CARLA GRANT
TOUR MANAGER
Carla Grant is a renowned creative, and 3 time winner of the S.A.F.S Award for outstanding achievement in the film industry.
A creative tastemaker + passionate curator of the arts, Carla has been heavily involved in international film, dance, photography and music production for over 15 years.
With extensive experience in bringing large-scale + highly innovative events and film sets to life everywhere from Tokyo to Paris, she brings a dazzling multi-faceted skillset to Bloom Girl.
Comfortable operating under pressure on a film set, festival, event or stage, there’s no problem our tour manager can’t solve.
You can find her backstage ’playing jazz with connector pens’ or figuring out how to get the chandeliers to turn on.
Emily Hill
ART DIRECTOR
Emily is a natural visual communicator who uses skills in graphic design, photography, videography, illustration and collage to curate unique and eye-catching visuals. Emily is motivated by art and design that can disrupt the norm, provoke emotion as well as connect viewers introspectively and with others. With a background studying Interactive and Visual Design, Emily has since worked for marketing and user experience teams for leading Australian retailers and design agencies. Known as the ‘The Emily Edit’ on Instagram, Emily also endeavours to develop her personal brand and grow her presence as an artist, selling her art prints on her online store.
MILLIE TANG
ARTIST/PHOTOGRAPHER
Millie Tang is an Australian freelance photographer and an award-winning bartender who makes drinks, takes photos and sometimes does both at the same time.
In recent years, her creative interests have broadened to include beverage and event photography, branding, content creation and social media which has seen her work with brands such as Hennessy, Belvedere, Grey Goose, Cointreau and Jack Daniels.
Millie has also been featured across various media in multiple bartending publications, The Australian, Courier Mail and a 2021 Tourism Australia campaign.
In the not-too-distant future, she hopes to see, shoot and drink more of the world and pursue a future in both the hospitality and creative industries, finding opportunities to combine the two whenever, wherever and as often as possible.BART HASSAM
ARTIST/FLORAL DESIGNER
Bart is the reigning 2019 World Champion of Floral Design, and holds over 30 years experience working with flowers in all areas of floristry and floral design.
Bart’s major awards include Australian Florist of the Year 2015, 2013, 2009, 2005, 2003 and he was the winner of the Asia Cup in 2011 held in Taipei, Taiwan.
Bart’s latest success was winning the prestigious World Cup of Floral Design in 2019, held in Philadelphia, USA.
Bart’s unique style and vision has grown from years of study of floral forms across Australia and Asia. He regularly teaches in international flower schools and presents new work across the world at major florals design competitions and symposiums.
With business partner Carolyn Williamson, he is co-owner of Maison Fleur Floral Design - a trio of boutique floral design studios in the heart of Brisbane City, with a focus on exquisite seasonal flowers and plants.
SARAH LAIDLAW
HAIR/MUA ARTIST
Sarah is a renowned hairdresser and makeup artist with over 30 years experience across editorial fashion, film, tv, advertising, red carpet and runway.
Her true love is the curated fashion image; and her work has received enough awards to fill a treasure chest or two, including 6 x Australian Session Hairstylist of the Year, and 3 x Australian Makeup Artist of the Year.
She frequently travels the world with her bag of tricks, bringing beauty dreams to life. When not out and about on a grand adventure or treasure hunting for inspiration, she lives in Sydney, weaving magic from strands of hair and painting faces with starlight.
